Evening seminar at BI Norwegian School of Management 12.02.2009. Opening lecture by Carlos Joly followed by a panel debate led by professor Atle Midttun.

The financial crisis has revealed dramatic speculative exposure to risk in banking and financial sector which has had catastrophic consequences for the global economy. Some have asked for stronger public governance. The crisis has also discovered serious, internal lack of control within the industry, which has further put focus on corporate governance and corporate responsibility.

This open seminar addressed corporate responsibility in the financial sector, especially in the light of the crisis that the world is facing. The panel consisted of participants from academia, the traditional financial sector as well as from social banking, and representative from the media.

Carlos Joly is special advisor for UNEP Finance Initiative, former SRI director in Storebrand, and Visiting Professor at Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Toulouse and BI Norwegian School of Management.
